Introduction
Woman Made Gallery (WMG) offers stimulating and educational programs with a focus on women artists, performers and writers who share an
interest in the interaction of the arts in contemporary culture.
WMG seeks to provide a supportive and safe environment for all women to share their experiences and viewpoints in order to re-evaluate and communicate their connectedness with each other. We feel that women need to be supported and empowered in a culture that has consistently neglected and dismissed their valuable contributions in all areas of life.
All events are programmed with the public in mind. Determination of the value of these programs to the public is made in following ways: attendance, does the program directly serve the gallery mission, written evaluation forms and verbal evaluations.
Juried Group Shows
Woman Made Gallery (WMG) conducts eight annual group exhibitions which explore a wide variety of themes: spirituality, contemporary
family issues, environmental concerns, historical observations, political investigations etc. with an emphasis on celebrating human diversity. Artworks may be viewed by visiting our Archives and clicking on the Exhibition Title of your choice.
All group exhibitions are curated and juried by different professional women, artists and non-artists. Artists are challenged to translate chosen topics into visual presentations and a short general artist statement is required of the artist and exhibited together with the work. This gives additional information to the viewer who in return is often challenged to investigate and question his or her own belief system based on traditional values.
WMG usually extends entry deadlines by one week to give all artists the opportunity to enter their work to shows of their choice. Artists may obtain entry forms in various formats from the Entry Forms page. You may also send a self-addressed stamped envelope to Woman Made Gallery, 2418 W. Bloomingdale Ave. Chicago, IL. 60647, indicating for which show you wish to obtain a prospectus. Applicants from overseas must send a regular envelope (not oversized) together with two international stamp coupons (US postal system does not accept foreign stamps!) to reimburse WMG for postal expenses! Show entries must arrive at the Gallery by the due dates and consist of quality slides of up to three works, completed entry form, short artist statement, entry fee ($20) and a self-addressed stamped (4"x9.5") #10 envelope for the return of your slides if not accepted. Please add an extra dollar for our scholarship fund or for reimbursement of stamps! WMG retains the slides of accepted work for exhibition records and publicity purposes.

Solo Exhibitions
In addition to thematic group shows, WMG schedules six solo shows per year where professional women artists have the opportunity to exhibit a more comprehensive body of work than is allowed in the group shows. These solo shows give gallery visitors a chance to experience both a wide variety of works in the group theme shows as well as a more in-depth look into the work of an individual artist. Artists for the solo shows are selected by invitation only and the criteria for inclusion is a consistent body of quality work with a strong content and feminist orientation. The current fee for a four-week exhibition is $600 which includes placing up to ten images on our website. Solo Show artists are responsible for printing their own invitations and sending invites to their personal mailing list. WMG includes Solo Show artists in newsletters, on our website, in press releases and on our juried group-show invitations in an effort to promote participants. Please visit our Solo Show section or go to our Solo Show Archives.

Workshops
The Gallery offers quarterly workshops to help women artists with their artistic career. They are "Exhibiting Professionalism", "Portfolio Review", "Career Day" and "Women's Art Critique". From time to time other interesting and enriching workshops are added, and all are detailed under the Workshops.
Special Events and Projects
WMG offers many other events, including lectures by noted women artists,
poetry readings and 'fun' fundraising events, among others. In addition, WMG publishes an annual date book called HER MARK. There is an Open Call for entries for the art and poetry featured in HER MARK (entry deadlines in May). Please visit the Special Events section for details.
