Mysticism has exerted the greatest influence on my work, especially the Western mystical traditions of Martinism, Rosicrucianism, and theosophy. My work also is influenced by symbolic languages such astrology, which speak not only to the mind, emotions, and senses but directly to the soul. Seen through the lens of the inner self, art becomes an opportunity for the soul to express itself as well as an inspiration for prayer and meditation. At its noblest, art provides a means to achieve harmony with the divine on all planes of our being. These artistic soul expressions become symbols of the Inner Journey as well as beacons lighting the way for other souls climbing the Mystic Mountain as part of the Great Work. My painting, photography, and videos focus on nature, that great symbolic panorama and spiritual teacher. Often, my work captures nature as seen at potent points of the day or year (moonrise, sunset, winter solstice) because of these times' symbolic importance for the soul and its journey and their ability to spark inner transformation. |
