Julie Pitzen is a Chicago artist and former archaeologist. She has had a long time interest in Central Asia and received a degree in Art and Anthropology from Indiana University. Upon graduation, she worked as a Research Assistant in the Field Museum’s Anthropology Department for nearly ten years. She has been working in clay since she was a young girl. While living in Mongolia, she has worked closely with a number of famous artists, professors, the National Arts Council, and was the first American Artist to exhibit at the Mongolian National Art Gallery. She plans to continue working in Mongolia on various art and community projects and hopes to bring Mongolian Art and Artists to Chicago one day.
