| The India in which I grew up is slowly disappearing under the tide of corporate globalization. Trade liberalization and privatization has uprooted people from their land, wrecked livelihoods that have sustained communities for generations, and usurped natural resources. Vanishing India, my ongoing project incorporates India's strong cultural symbols and traditional art forms, and attempts to capture the dignity and humanity of a struggling and possibly dying culture. |
