The rhythm of my work fluctuates between figurative and nonobjective forms. I try to solve formal problems through the exploration of materials, working with density of paint, stroke, clean edge, contrasting with freedom of gesture, flat picture plane and infinite space. I find the American West has seeped into my recent work, evoking vast spaces and rugged terrain: it is about a larger than life liberated view of embracing new frontiers, taking risks and exploring new territories.
