I have recently been inspired by what some may deem to be the abnormal, or even the grotesque. Not all my work has a humorous twist, but I am often surprised by people’s reactions. Some of my saddest pieces—the ones that are the most emotional for me—have been perceived as funny. I am drawn to that which is abnormal—not perfect, not beautiful. Sometimes these images find me, and sometimes I must create them. Either way, I try to put them into a context that makes sense in my mind, whether it is relating them to the human experience, or developing their own environment, and it’s often, surprisingly, funny!
