As a visual artist and educator, I combine images and text using the comic book narrative format. Using satire, parody, and irony, my work primarily addresses many issues and challenges facing educators today, particularly female educators within colleges and universities. I utilize the standard 8.5 x 11-inch page using black ink on Manga paper. It is my hope, through visual narrative, to give glimpses into the realities of the largely misunderstood world of teaching at the college/university level. I have sought inspiration in the works of many feminist cartoonists who have explored cultural and autobiographical issues, and who use the medium of the cartoon to empower themselves and others, to confront hypocrisy and injustice, and to raise consciousness.
