The use, manipulation, and integration of word and image are at the heart of all my design work—whether graphic design, book design, or built work. It is this intersection of word and image of deeply personal experiences where thought transference occurs and communication begins. A never-ending process, I look for new methods to explore meaning and form.
"Me & Jackie O" contains three narratives which can be read together or separately. The first story, set in the typeface Frutiger Black and printed on translucent paper, concerns President and Mrs. Kennedy and their family’s public life. Underneath, on opaque paper, set in Trump Mediaeval, is the second narrative, that traces the development of a child’s innocent acceptance of her parents’ values regarding the Kennedy family, to her subsequent obsession with Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis. When the translucent and opaque pages are read together, a third narrative is produced, detailing the coexistence of the two families.
