Painting on canvas has been a derivative experience for me, building on other forms of artistic expression I've pursued for over two decades. I began as a potter and have long been a black & white photographer specializing in landscapes and portraiture. I studied at the Art Institute of Chicago and other venues. I've shown at several galleries and wide ranging regional exhibitions, including The Fine Arts Building Gallery in Chicago.My earlier abstract compositions, which included very colorful interchanges of form and texture have slowly evolved. Recently I began limiting my palette to black and white and discovered - quite accidently - that animal type figures appeared. I value the spontaneous gesture, of letting the painting happen - each stroke a response to the last one.
