My work is often related in theme to aspects of memory, family history, spirituality, gender, time and space. While the specific occasions of memory are often of a personal nature, I hope that the themes and imagery have a universal appeal.
I am interested in using my materials so that they work to convey my message. It is exciting to me to incorporate collage and found objects with encaustic paint. The encaustic medium allows me to work with transparency when I want, or to incise and transfer images at other times. The versatility of this medium enables me to better convey the subtlety of my ideas. My goal in making art is to explore process while allowing intuition to have its say.
